Joseph Bologne—Chevalier de Saint-Georges, born on a Guadeloupean plantation in 1745 to a Black mother and a white slaveholder—was the fastest fencer in France, one of its finest violinists, a personal bodyguard to Louis XV, and a court musician to Marie Antoinette. He was also, after his death, scrubbed from the historical record by Napoleon for the crime of his ancestry, leaving only one of his operas extant. Portrait takes that lone survivor, the 1780 L'amant anonyme, as its spine, then surrounds it with the Violin Concerto in C, Op. 3 No. 2, a Haydn-shaped string quartet, and two songs—Sospiri, volato and Rose d'amour. Théotime Langlois de Swarte plays violin; Justin Taylor takes the harpsichord; the recording was made at Versailles itself, in rooms Saint-Georges actually walked into for work. There is a tactful, almost diffident accuracy to the performances. They do not lobby on his behalf. They simply put him back where he belonged, and let the architecture remember. Christophe Rousset is now one opera away from a complete Lully cycle—only Cadmus et Hermione, the very first, remains—and Proserpine is the penultimate panel of a recording project that has occupied him for the better part of thirty years. The 1680 score marks Lully's reunion with the librettist Quinault after the Isis scandal, and its rendering of Ovid's myth deliberately shifts the centre of dramatic gravity onto Ceres, the mother left grieving rather than the daughter abducted. Marie Lys, in the title role, sings with a transparency that almost feels disinterested in display; Véronique Gens, in Ceres, weights the whole opera with the lower-end gravity of a singer who has been thinking about grief professionally for thirty years. Rousset's orchestra leaves the ornamentation to the libretto. Outside of Bayreuth, this is the most consequential French Baroque opera recording of the year so far. The 250th anniversary of American independence has produced, predictably, an avalanche of orchestral commissions wrapped in the rhetorical flag of Appalachian Spring. Enger's contribution is quieter and, for that reason, much more useful. She opens with Bernstein's Thirteen Anniversaries—a sequence of miniatures, one per friend (Sondheim, the young pianist William Kapell, his wife Felicia Montealegre)—then runs through Corigliano's An Anniversary for Lenny, four of Still's Seven Traceries, Rorem excerpts, Florence Price's Adoration, and Copland's three piano excerpts from Our Town. Each piece treats "America" as a noun referring to specific people, rather than an adjective inflating its own importance. Enger plays unornamented. Cardot is a French-Syrian Londoner with a producer's roster that reads like a wedding-table seating chart for British soul: TSB (J Hus, Dave), the Grammy-winning Venna (Burna Boy, Beyoncé), PRGRSHN (Stormzy, Nao), LJay Currie (Drake). She lets none of it crowd her out. The EP, which runs a little over twenty minutes, declines the obvious move of writing about romantic love and instead works through her relationships with family. The penultimate track, Second Hand, sketches a relationship in which apologies are perpetually out of stock; the arrangement keeps clearing space for her to deliver, more than perform, the line. Her voice sits in the Lianne La Havas / Cleo Sol register, but the writing is more reticent than either. The trio's previous four records were all tributes—Strayhorn, Mingus, Mary Lou Williams, Paul Bley—and Triological is, finally, an all-originals outing. Recorded over two days at Allison's Pennsylvania studio, the album is built on the curious alchemy of jazz trios without drums: bass, guitar, and sax leave so much air for melody that rhythm stops being the problem and shape becomes everything. The opening "Burnt Toast & Avocado" is the kind of charm offensive a record like this lives or dies by; it lives. Cardenas's tone, dry and indifferent to demonstration, anchors the whole project. The Vilnius-based Indonesian composer and instrument-builder Johanes "Mo'ong" Santoso Pribadi (half of Raja Kirik) and the Berlin-based Japanese producer Shigeru Ishihara (Scotch Rolex) have, on their second collaboration, made a record that refuses cartography. Abu—Bahasa for "ash"—was recorded across Yogyakarta, Švenčionėliai, and Berlin, and it stitches gamelan resonance, taiko shockwaves, breakcore arithmetic, and hardstyle kick patterns into the topography of a volcanic island that exists only in the recording. The opener, Hai no uta, sounds biomechanical: Java gongs intercut with xenharmonic flute and live-rendered electronic vibration. Hino-Tori simply matches their shouts to carnivalesque synths and lets the rhythm do the rest. Bandcamp Daily named it Album of the Day on May 21. Their own gloss: "identity dissolves like sound in fog." The anniversary number—thirty-three—is the giveaway. Not thirty (UMe missed it last year), not thirty-five (still two years out), but a number chosen because the album is still selling. The original producer Stephen Street has built new 2026 stereo mixes; the package adds 1994 live recordings, Spanish-language reimaginings of "Linger" (with Bratty) and "Dreams" (with Anasof), and an Iain Cook (Chvrches) remix of "Linger" that surfaces under the original chord changes. Dolores O'Riordan is, of course, no longer here. The guitar that opens "Linger" still is. Whatever the commercial calculus of yet another reissue, Street's remix uncovers small details that the original CD masters cooked off—Noel Hogan's breath audible in the room before the riff lands, that sort of thing. Not every anniversary deserves a box. This one does. 33 這個數字本身就說明問題：不是 30（UMe 去年錯過了）、不是 35（還要再等兩年）——選 33 是因為這張碟還在賣。Stephen Street 親自重做 2026 stereo mix，加 1994 現場、Spanish 重做的《Linger》（feat.
