For a decade now, Esfahani has been the harpsichordist who refuses to stay in the cabinet—commissioning Ligeti, playing Reich, dragging an instrument most listeners file under "museum" into the present tense. So a complete Bach concerto cycle reads, at first, like a man finally behaving. He isn't. He keeps the harpsichord in the solo chair but surrounds it with the modern instruments of the Britten Sinfonia, one foot in the eighteenth century's plucked wire, the other in twenty-first-century gut and steel. The friction is the point. Two years on from his last, DJ Krush returns with a fourteenth album whose concept fits in three words: the pulse of the city. The digital release lands June 19, the vinyl in July, but the advance single, "WARN DEM," already tells you he hasn't sanded down his edges for anybody—the beat still sits low and close, lodged somewhere behind the sternum, with dancehall's Riko Dan riding it. Across ten tracks the guest list runs from ELIM to the Ugandan rapper MC Yallah. Three decades in, the man who turned turntablism into ink-wash painting is still transcribing not the skyline but the hum beneath the pavement. Who decided art song must forever concern itself with brooks and millers and Schubertian heartbreak? Sisco turns the lens on the rubble of the early internet instead: the "missed connections" of a half-defunct classifieds site, the unhinged cruelty of online product reviews, prayers written by children. The absurd, the lonely, the occasionally vicious—all of it set, with a straight face, for voice and piano. It sounds like a gimmick and turns out to be archaeology. To preserve the cadence of a personal ad nobody answered is to keep the books for a vanishing civic voice. Consider it a courteous rebuttal to anyone convinced classical song has run out of things to say. 誰規定藝術歌曲只能寫舒伯特式的溪流、磨坊與失戀。David Sisco 這張把取材的鏡頭轉向了網路的廢墟：早期分類網站上「我們擦肩而過，想再聯絡」的尋人啟事、線上商品頁裡那些刻薄到失控的負評、還有小孩子寫下的、毫無防備的禱告詞。荒誕、孤獨、偶爾尖銳——這些半失效的網路文體，被他一本正經地譜進了美聲與鋼琴。
