The tracklist is a flight log. It lifts off with "Departure," refuels at "Coffee Shop in Fresno," detours through "Mysterious Kota Kinabalu," and sets down, thirty-nine minutes later, at "Farewell, My Old Friend." GONTITI, the duo of Gonzalez Mikami and Titi Matsumura, have spent forty-eight years perfecting what they long ago named Very Special Ordinary Music, and the name still does more critical work than most reviews manage: two acoustic guitars, melodies that behave like good hotel staff, nothing that raises its voice. This is their first album in about seven years, and the conceit of two aging pilots on a world tour is worn lightly; the pleasure is in how much geography they imply with how little material. Easy-listening is the wrong slur for playing this exact. The format is the old-fashioned part: four singers sharing one pianist, taking turns as at a salon evening, Joseph Middleton accompanying them all. The repertoire is the young part. "Im Lenz" and "Winterlied" date from a few weeks in early 1880, when Mahler was nineteen and the First Symphony was still eight years off; they sit near the very start of his surviving catalogue and almost never get recorded. Simon Keenlyside takes the complete Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen in its piano version, where the wayfarer loses the orchestra and sounds considerably more alone. Middleton recorded a Mahler disc with Sarah Connolly three years ago; this one completes the thought. The oddest credit of the week: Klas Åhlund, the Swedish producer behind Robyn's best records, co-producing the new Show Me The Body. The NYC trio's banjo-driven hardcore has always been architectural, but this one is built like a suite, thirteen tracks bookended by an "Overture" and a "Finale," with titles like "Dance In The USA" and "Eat For Peace" wearing the politics on the sleeve. The band describes the album as being about praxis, belief put into action, and it opens on the line "radical love compels me to fight." Direct communication, not atmosphere, per the band's own framing; the pop brain trust turns out to serve that goal rather than soften it. 開場第一句歌詞：激進的愛驅使我戰鬥。紐約三人組這張新專輯的主題是 praxis——信念付諸行動，曲名〈Dance In The USA〉〈Eat For Peace〉都在同一個方向上使勁。最反差的名字藏在製作欄：Klas Åhlund，給 Robyn 和 Teddybears 做過唱片的瑞典流行製作人，來給一支班卓硬核樂團操盤。十三首歌以〈Overture〉開、〈Finale〉收，排得像一部組曲，是他們結構感最強的一張。硬核樂團談愛，比談恨難得多。

Joe Muggs, reviewing this for Bandcamp's Album of the Day, situated it in a very particular Brighton lineage: Wevie Stonder and the Spymania orbit, the Spirit of Gravity collective, the damp seaside psychedelia that eventually birthed breakcore. Stephen Maskell's record earns the family tree. It is British home-built electronics of the Radiophonic Workshop school, drifting toward Aphex territory, over which Maskell delivers spoken passages including a genuinely sad monologue about dog-sitting, in which poking the sleeping animal yields the texture of cardboard. Elsewhere a track title asserts that Elizabeth I resembles Sonia from EastEnders. Eleven tracks on Kit Records, limited CD, from Friday. 開場白是一段替人看狗的獨白：戳他一下，手感像紙板。布萊頓人 Stephen Maskell 的這張專輯，被 Bandcamp Daily 的 Joe Muggs 放進一條完整的地下譜系——Wevie Stonder、Spymania、Spirit of Gravity 集體，也就是 Wrong Music 和 breakcore 的發源地。聲音上是英式血統：Radiophonic Workshop 那路自製電子，慢慢漂向 Aphex Twin 的領地。曲目單自成喜劇，有一首叫〈Elizabeth I resembles Sonia from EastEnders〉，斷言伊麗莎白一世長得像《東區人》裡的 Sonia。十一首，限量 CD。英國怪電子的傳統項目：又傷心，又好笑。

The FADER's angle on this record was that the pipe organs of rural Newfoundland have become accidental instruments of climate measurement: humidity rots them, parishes close, and nobody pays to fix what nobody hears. Michael Cloud Duguay visited seven churches and recorded their organs before the option expires, layering in field recordings and interviews with the congregations that remain. The Guardian filed it as an audio documentary, which undersells how composed it is; three interludes called "Pond" partition the album into rooms, and the Wendat scholar Georges E. Sioui appears on "Settlement." Chappo call themselves an instrumental band, and on their second album eight of eleven tracks have vocals, guitarist Oto Fukuhara stepping up to the microphone for the first time. The personnel reads like a Tokyo succession drama: bassist Yuta Hosono is Haruomi Hosono's grandson, and Milo Oyamada, on guitar for four tracks, is Cornelius's son. Track five settles the inheritance question with a medley that welds The Chantays' "Pipeline" onto YMO's "Absolute Ego Dance," grandfather's tune and surf classic sharing one groove. Emerson Kitamura adds organ; Neibiss raps on the closer. The digital version appeared in June, but the CD, mastered separately at KIMKEN STUDIO, landed last Wednesday on Kakubarhythm. 貝斯手細野悠太是細野晴臣的孫子，吉他手裡有小山田米呂，Cornelius 的兒子。東京樂團 Chappo 的第二張專輯，第五軌把 The Chantays 的衝浪名曲〈Pipeline〉和祖父的 YMO 曲〈Absolute Ego Dance〉串成一段 medley，血緣直接寫進曲目單。他們一直自稱器樂樂團，這張十一曲卻有八曲人聲，福原音第一次擔綱主唱；Emerson Kitamura 的風琴和 Neibiss 的說唱各佔一角。數位版六月初就上了，CD 版上週三落地，KIMKEN STUDIO 另做母帶——實體派的講究。六月他們剛和 Ginger Root 同臺。二代目不靠姓氏，靠選曲品味。
Nixon Boyd — Every Time We Turn A Corner

Someone smashed the van window and took the storage device holding the finished album, so Nixon Boyd, formerly of Hollerado, re-recorded the whole thing from memory, note by note. Stereogum made the rebuilt version its Album of the Week. Eleven songs, on Royal Mountain, released July 3. 車窗被砸，存著整張專輯的設備被偷。多倫多人 Nixon Boyd，Hollerado 的前吉他手，憑記憶把整張專輯逐音重錄了一遍。重錄版就是你現在聽到的版本，Stereogum 選為當週專輯。丟掉的那版永遠沒人聽過，也就永遠是更好的那版；這種事只能這麼安慰。

《Dust》《Ash》之後，三部曲的完結篇。中提琴手 Mat Maneri 的四重奏七年沒換過人：Lucian Ban 的鋼琴、John Hébert 的低音提琴、Randy Peterson 的鼓。微分音在他手裡從來都合理——音準的縫隙裡住著整套語彙。曲目單裡有一首直接叫〈Paul Motian〉，致敬不繞彎。八首，24bit 數位發行。適合深夜，不適合走神。
