The seventeenth Lambchop album was cut in three days at April Base, which is Justin Vernon's studio, and Vernon himself plays the banjo on it. A six-voice choir runs the length of the record; Ryan Olson produced, Andrew Broder co-wrote. Three days is fast for a band that has spent three decades taking its time, and the speed is legible in the singing, which sounds like people standing in one room rather than parts stacked over a fortnight. The premise arrived by accident. Driving one night, Kurt Wagner caught a song on the radio, one drone of a banjo and a small crowd of voices, and could never find it again; chasing it led him to lined-out singing, the call-and-response psalmody that came out of eighteenth-century Scotland and settled in Appalachia, where a clerk sang each line first because most of the congregation could not read. Twelve tracks. "White People" is the shortest at 2:53, "Just West of Nicollet" and "Weakened" the longest at 5:37 apiece. Merge is pressing it four ways, including an opaque silver Peak Vinyl. Apple files this as an EP. Three movements, twenty-five minutes, a late-Romantic symphony in C-sharp minor, shelved with the singles because the catalogue has no category for a short one. Nancy Dalberg was the first Danish woman to have a symphony publicly performed; Carl Nielsen, whose student and copyist she had been, conducted the 1918 premiere himself, and then the score went to sleep for a century. Dausgaard and the Copenhagen Philharmonic put it back on a stage in February and this recording came out of that. The finale is marked Rondo rather than Finale and lasts 5:26, less than half the opening Moderato. Irish traditional duos generally pair a banjo with a guitar. Patrick "Paahto" Cummins and John Francis Flynn have left the banjo at home and play ten tracks on two guitars, Cummins bringing bluegrass flat-picking to the melody line, Flynn working out what accompaniment can do when it is the only other instrument in the room. They have shared stages since 2011 and founded Skipper's Alley together in 2013; this is the first record under their own two names. The title is a Dublin bus route. The 123 runs past Cummins's childhood road in Drimnagh at one end and stops near Flynn's in Marino at the other, which makes the album a line drawn between two houses. Elsewhere the tracklist reads like a campaign map: Aughrim, the Boyne, Bonaparte crossing the Alps. "The Battle of Aughrim" is the longest thing here at 5:03. 專輯名取自都柏林的 123 路公車。這條線一端經過 Patrick「Paahto」Cummins 從小住的 Drimnagh 區 Errigal Road，另一端終點在 John Francis Flynn 長大的 Marino 區 St. Declan's Road，一條路線把兩個人的家串在一起。

The Bristol band note on their own Bandcamp page that a Grandmas House song usually runs about two and a half minutes, which makes "Blue Oblivion," at 3:54, the longest thing they have ever written. That is the record's grand gesture and it does not reach four minutes. Neither does anything else on it. Twelve tracks, eight years after the band formed and three EPs deep, produced by Ali Chant at The Playpen with Niklas Lueger engineering. Yasmin Berndt sings and plays guitar, Poppy Dodgson sings and plays drums, and Polly Jessett has now joined on lead guitar, making four. 2018 年成軍，出過三張 EP，八年後才有第一張專輯。等這麼久，出手卻極短：十二首歌沒有一首滿四分鐘。他們在 Bandcamp 上自陳平常一首大概兩分半，所以 3 分 54 秒的〈Blue Oblivion〉已經是寫過最長的一首。

The duo exists because Tokiyo Ooto heard an old British cassette of nursery rhymes and could not put it down. She went looking for someone to work with and found Orhythmo, who came up through hardcore, which is not the obvious background for lullabies and appears to be a useful one. Their first album, in 2024, was recorded live to tape in a single pass at a studio in Osaka and put out themselves; this second one is for EM Records, the Osaka label, and is described as lullabies for grown-ups. Electric guitar, bass, field recordings and musique concrète, stretching children's songs until they slow to a halt. "Buranko," the swing song, was written by Yasushi Akutagawa to words by Masuyo Tsuzuki, with additional verses by Ooto. The digital edition appeared on the nineteenth and the physical one is dated today, so take your pick of release dates. 單曲〈ぶらんこ〉的原曲作曲是芥川也寸志、作詞都築益世，一首寫給小孩的鞦韆歌；大音鬥紀世另外補了幾句自己的詞。這條 credits 出自官方 MV 說明欄，MV 導演小池佳耶、主演樋口葵。

Taped at Big Apple on the fifth of February, mixed on the twenty-eighth of April, mastered by Mike Marciano in New York on the thirteenth of May: the credits print the whole chain, which is unusual candour about how long a live record takes to become a record. Fourteen players — five saxophones, three trumpets including Natsuki Tamura, two trombones, guitar, bass, and both drummers. Four tracks, numbered and nothing else: 16:37, 12:57, 10:09, 17:34. Close to an hour with no titles offering a way in. You take the room as it came. 四軌，只有編號，沒有曲名：〈After the Storm 1〉十六分三十七秒、2 十二分五十七秒、3 十分零九秒、4 十七分三十四秒，加起來約五十七分鐘。一場演出被切成四塊，標題不給任何提示，只能從第一秒開始聽。

A no-input mixing board, which produces sound only by feeding back into itself, and an erhu played by a man who likes to push it to the edge of breaking. Franki Wals on the board, Chang Teng-yao on the erhu, Li Song on metronome, snare drum, Bluetooth speaker and laptop. Recorded at a converted space in Hsinchu in September 2024 and released in July.
