The track titles arrive like footnotes to a seminar nobody attended: Is affect real?, Auratones of Desire, Job's tears, Prosperity Shrimp. Chang's third solo record was written mostly on a hundred-year-old baby grand and recorded across two rooms, her apartment in Sunset Park and Andréa Schiavelli's studio out in Maspeth, with Schiavelli sharing the production credit. Seven years since NEW WORLD, and the personnel reads like a census of the Japanese funk and acid-jazz circuit: players on loan from Q.A.S.B., Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, ONEGRAM, VIDEOBROTHER. Nagatetsu Takamiya, who runs the label, mixed and mastered. Joseph Marx spent his Vienna years better known as a critic and a conservatory director than as a composer, which is a fate one would not wish on anyone. The eight pieces here span thirty years, ending with a violin sonata written in 1944 and titled, without irony, Frühlingssonate. The four movements of the F major Suite come in at 8:41, 8:29, 9:03 and 8:53 — four bricks of nearly equal weight, stacked. Pensola plays violin in the Finnish quartet Meta4. Joseph Marx 生前在維也納更為人知的身分是樂評人與音樂學院院長，寫的東西反倒排在後面。這張收的八段跨了三十年：《F 大調組曲》與《Pastorale》屬於 1910 年代，《第二號小提琴奏鳴曲「春天」》寫於 1944 年，已經是他近乎封筆的作品。

The two books of České tance were written after Smetana had gone deaf, and their titles are stubbornly concrete: a little hen, oats, a bear, a small onion. Laid end to end they read like a rural glossary. Furiant is the longest at 5:32, Obkročák the shortest at exactly three minutes. The early G minor Sonata opens the disc and spends 11:16 of its half-hour on the first movement alone. Hwang, Seoul-born and Colburn-trained, plays all eighteen tracks — the fullest programme in this batch. 《捷克舞曲》兩冊是 Smetana 失聰以後的鋼琴作品，曲名全是具體名詞：小母雞、燕麥、熊、小洋蔥。十首排在一起像一本農村詞典。最長的《Furiant》5 分 32 秒，最短的《Obkročák》3 分整。

A Czech orchestra, an Italian conductor, French opéra comique, and a series now in its ninth volume. Nine of the fifteen tracks are dances and marches from Gustave III, ou Le bal masqué — a Swedish king assassinated at a masked ball, twenty-four years before Verdi got to the same story. The last item is the one to hear: five minutes and fifty-eight seconds of funeral march written for the day in 1840 when Napoleon's ashes came back to Paris. 捷克樂團、意大利指揮、法國喜歌劇，系列已經出到第九卷。
