Fifty-seven years into a recording career, Hosono has arranged his own release schedule like a man planning a modest party. The lead track went up on his seventy-ninth birthday in July. The cover was commissioned from the painter Horigome Harune. The press copy says Couperin, Rameau, Jacquet de La Guerre, which is accurate and tells you nothing about the shape of the thing. What Momen has actually built is two complete suites — Rameau's E minor of 1724, all eight movements, and Jacquet de La Guerre's second suite in G minor, also complete — with Couperin's character pieces threaded between them as connective tissue. Takemitsu wrote Toward the Sea in 1981 for alto flute and guitar, and then the harp version went out into the world and became the one everybody knows. Meera Maharaj and James Girling play the original scoring, all three movements, and the alto flute's lower register does something the harp arrangement cannot: it makes "Cape Cod" sound underlit. 武滿徹《Toward the Sea》1981 年寫給中音長笛與吉他，後來的豎琴版流通更廣，多數人聽到的是那個版本。這張回到原始編制，The Night／Moby Dick／Cape Cod 三個樂章全收，中音長笛的低音域讓〈Cape Cod〉暗了一層。

The credits list acoustic guitar, guitar synthesiser, MIDI-guitar sampler, drums, electric piano, keyboard synthesiser, percussion, zither, voice — all Mercereau — and then, separately, Carlos Niño: one microfrequency percussion sample. I find that division of labour funny and slightly moving. Before recording, the two of them set a rule: the electronics would not decorate the cello, and the cello would not sit at the centre with production arranged politely around it. Their working slogan is "the method is instability," which for once describes what happens. Quiet melodic fragments get interrupted and restarted; a bright synth chord opens out into cello writing that is nearly orchestral; late on, a broken organ-ish sample circles in place and refuses to resolve. 曲目表讀起來像一張誤點的行程：〈buffering〉〈emotional baggage allowance〉〈at the terminal but lost〉。七首全在寫候機廳那種被拉長又被切斷的時間感。

The record closes with "Ripped Open I" and "Ripped Open II," a title split down the middle.
